Whoa!

Still Alive
This is just a random post to prove that we still care.  Finding time to keep the website updated seems to be tougher than I would have anticipated.  I am now fully confident that the only way a band can get out and play regular as well as handle all their own self promotion and bookin, is if they have no kids and do this full time.

Recently
We've been working on solidifying some new local places to play in the Kalamazoo area.  Most noteably the 411Club, The Old Dog Tavern, Arcadia Brewing Co, Websters (The Library Lounge), and The Globe.  If these pan out as planned w ought to be very busy over the fall and winter.  If you are a regular at any of these spots make sure you grab someone and request to see us there!

Last Friday we had the opportunity to play the Taste of Kalamazoo.  Thanks to all of you that were there! It was a last minute gig so there was not a lot of pulicity on our part.  Hopefully you'll get a chance to see us on the big stage at the Arcadi Festival Grounds again real soon.  There are lots of festivals left yet this summer.

Coming Up
This weeke we have a show at Founder's in Grand Rapids on Thursday along with an acoustic weekend set at Websters both Friday and Saturday.  next week we are back at Webster's for a repeat.  Make some plans now to come on out and check us out.  If you haven't seen the Mighty Joe Wang acoustic circus.. it's fun.. it's different and unexpected.  We might even play a song or two.

Busy in May

The month of May is keeping us busy. There are plenty of shows for you to catch us at if you've missed us. The show last night was a great time and we want to thank everyone for showing up and giving a warm welcome to Bowery in their first Kalamazoo appearance. Our next few upcoming shows have us in Paw Paw for the Spring Fling, then in Alto for a show, and finally in Sparta for a benefit to raise money for Cancer research. You just might see the band sporting pink evening gowns (or so Im told). We hope to see you there.

Bring back the comics!

Sorry I've been so slow at adding pictures and other miscellany to the site.  I've have been asked quite a bit by people when the next comics will get posted.  Well, I think tonights show with the Leonards out to produce some memorable pictures and moments that are comic.  Make sure you make yourself known tonight and get in a picture!  If you have good ones that you have taken please share them.  Post them on our Facebook fan page or email them to me.

See you tonight!

Back in the Saddle

JWTP at Uphill 41, courtesy of Mark Ruitta Yes, I realize it's been 90+ days since anything, and I mean anything has been updated or posted to this site... period.  That is really not a very good way of marketing you band now is it!  Well, I hope to change that.  After a pretty quiet winter thus far, we are finally getting back into the swing of things.  We have BIG show coming up on Friday March 19th at the Venue in Portage, MI. We'll once again be performing with the Leonards (from Los Angeles).  If you haven't seen us with these guys before, you are missing out.  The Venu is also a great place to see a show.  Nice dance floor, good acoustics and all that jazz.  We've been looking for new places in the Kalamazoo area to play, so come on out and show your support.  If we make this good we have a nice shot at getting some regular shows here.

There are some real nice photos from our show up in the U.P. at Uphill 41 back in November.  If you haven't already seen these check them out. Mark Ruitta, did a fantastic job on these pictures.  I wanna give a shout out to Dirk Hembroff and the guys form Marshall Law, Inc.  We had a great time up there and hope to do it again real soon.  If you see Dirk make sure to hound him about bringing us back up!

We still have a lot of CD's available as well as T-shirts.  Real soon you'll be able to order them on-line from our site.  That is just a little more than I feel like doing tonight! OK, time to sign off.  Drop us a line and let us know how you are doing, or just to give us general grief. We thrive on that.  See you on March 19th!

No more "News"

News and Information

How's it goin eh? Well, today I got tired of maintianing too many sites and pages that are redundant, so the "news" section that was on the main page is gone. I'm just going to post all news and information in the blog.

I added an applet to bring info from the Facebook fan page to the website. If you ahve a Facebook account and aren't a fan yet, you can do it now!

Wanna help out?

We are always looking for people that are in the mood to help out promoting the band on Facebook, hanging posters for shows and finding new places to play. If that's you drop us an email and we'll tell you how you can help out.

Ok that is about all I have to say today. I suppose I ought to get my a** in gear and post some more pictures, do another comis or two, post more music (new stuff that you might not have heard yet).. or I could go have a beer. What would you choose?

Peace
~Pete

Who says you can never go home again?

Yeah, I know it's been awhile since I've posted anything. I get that all the time. But then again I don't get a lot of feedback on the blog so I don't know if anyone is actually reading it.

This morning I had the opportunity to do an on-air interview with Dirk Hembroff from Mix 93 WKMJ in Hancock, MI.  (Hancock is my hometown). They've been playing ASRMNWBRC (Mexico) pretty regular on the station and it's been doing pretty well. It's been interesting hearing from all the folks at home once they realized that I was part of the band! Initially there was no reference made to any local connections when the song was first played as it had to prove itself on the strength of the tune as opposed to who performed it, then Dirk let the cat out of the bag last week. The interview was a lot of fun. We talked about a lot of stuff including some history of the band and the songs on the CD.  If you missed the interview, the audio is attached to this post.

On the homefront, the J-man has his cast off now and should be back in action for the show at "Mixer on the Mall". Matt Gullo has been kicking butt the past few weeks in Tony's absence and will be playing at the Roadhouse next week with us.  Come on out either Friday or Saturday (or both) to check him out. We've been fortunate to have the opportunity to work with him. He's a great player and a great guy.

We finally have our date set for the Paw Paw Wine and Harvest Festival. We are playing in the beer tent from 2-5 Saturday afternoon Sept 12. Despite being in the beer tent, at this time of the day it is open to all ages. Bring the kids and come hang out. (Kelly if you are reading this, remember it's your's and Valerie's job to round up the under 18 crowd!)

I've been working on some new T-shirt designs and we should have some stuff by the beginning of July. I'll be setting up a merchandise area soon on this site so that you can pre-order shirts as well as purchase other cool stuff. The website is a slow continual work in progress so check back often. As a matter of fact, see the RSS icon at the top of the page? Just subscribe to this blog and all this great info will come to you as opposed to you coming to it!

There should be some new pictures from the Harvey's show last week showing up here soon. I'm waiting on someone (you know who you are) to send me the darn things so I can post it.

Ok, in the meantime, turn it up to 11! Summer is here.

Peace
~Pete

I Don't Need No Stinking Hand!

The J-man (Tony) was in a mountain bike race the other week and rather than run over the no skilled newbie that stopped at the top of a fast hill, he attempted to bypass the impending accident but wound up with a boxer's fracture of the right hand. The best case scenario has him back in action before the Bell's show on July 25th.

Until then we have the multi-talented one man tour-de-force Matt "I'm not worthy!" Gullo stepping in to pick up the slack.  Some of you know Matt as the Manager at the Guitar Center in Kalamazoo or as one of the dueling guitarist in Spacelift, a local Kalamazoo band.  Matt has fit in perfectly with the rest of the band. So much so, that when you come to see us and the Tony steps in front of him to belt out his sweet harmonies you wont even see Matt behind him! (OK, so NOW I'm going to get a lot of crap for that, but hey, we are all one big happy family.

OK gotta go. See you all at Harvey's on the 29th!

Impatience ..

Well, the outside is certainly gloomy this afternoon so I thought I'd drop a few notes to anyone paying attention. It just hit me that the whole band does not have a show for almost a month! Ugh!

We had a great rehearsal Thursday night. It was one of those rare nights where that laughter drowned out the guitars. I had one of those brain dead days where I forgot half the gear we needed as well. It's a good thing there is a lot of "stuff" lying around at Tommy's to cobble together a PA.

We've been working on learning some more "friendly" covers since we have some shows with a lot of people with a wide variety of tastes. (How's that for politically correct). That's not to say that we have or are selling out, we've just developed a kindler, gentler attitude toward playing other people's material. How's that? So don't be surprised if you hear some stuff that never thought you'd hear JWTP cover. That's not to say that have not added our own particular flair to cover material. That's half the fun. Why play covers if you are going to sound like everyone else right?

Alright - remember May 2 (Saturday), I'm doing a little acoustic thang out on my own at Gallagher's. Oh, and if you see Tommy around, be sure to wish him a Happy Birthday!!!

~Peace

Starting over

Well, here I am again. Sitting in the living room, half in the dark, contemplating the fate of the band's website and the intricacies of marketing.

If you are reading this you have noticed that the entire look of the page has changed once again. Please be a little patient. I'm trying to gather up all the photos, past and present and will be posting the best of the best real soon. Until then, I guess that means that you'll just have to come back often.  I'm going to try to update the site enough so that it becomes a worthwhile 5 minutes of your time to check back once in awhile.  I might even decide to post a podcast or too in this blog, so you never know what type of musical gem you might come across.

The individual bios of the band members will be coming back too. They just need a little TLC before I re-post them.

There has not been too much news lately. We have confirmed another Bell's show for July 25. A HUGE thanks to all of you that responded to my plea and emailed Bell's about having us back. It worked! Also I've booked a few solo acoustic shows at Gallagher's (on Stadium) to fill in some of the gaps, so if you get a chance come on out and check one of those out. It's different that's for sure - but still fun.

The next show for the band is an outdoor event in downtown Paw Paw to usher in spring. It's May 15th right on the street. Bring the kids and let them run amuck and take in some good tunes.

CD sales are steady, if you haven't picked yours up yet follow the links on the home page to download it form iTunes or purchase a regular CD from CDBaby.com. Of course you can always pick one up at a show. You might even notice a table set up where we'll be selling our wares. We still haven't narrowed down the choices for T-shirts but those ought to be coming real soon. Dog tags, JWTP guitar picks, buttons, you name it.. it's all in the works. If you have an idea let me know.

OK, this has been a rather lengthy post, so time to cut it off.

~Peace
